Nitrate Kisses (1992), film still

Barbara Hammer’s films Sanctus (1990), Dr. Watson’s Xrays (1991), and Nitrate Kisses (1992) will be screened alongside films by James Sibley Watson Jr. in programs 2 and 4 of the James Sibley Watson Jr. series at Anthology Film Archives on May 22, 23, and 24, 2026!

The James Sibley Watson Jr. program celebrates the legacy of avant-garde cinema pioneer James Sibley Watson Jr.. Programs 2 and 4 will include works by Barbara Hammer, whose longtime interest in Sibley Watson Jr. manifested in two short films based on his Cinefluorography experiments, and one documentary (Nitrate Kisses, 1992) that incorporates archival footage from Sibley Watson Jr.’s film, Lot in Sodom (1933).
