Love, Barbara is a short documentary about Barbara Hammer’s legacy as it lives on though her partner of over 30 years, Florrie Burke. As the Executor and Arts Administrator of the Hammer Estate, Florrie not only carries out Barbara’s legacy, but also gets to experience it in new ways through the genius of Barbara Hammer’s art and archive.

The film will have its world premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival as part of the Doc Shorts: Art and the Artist program, screening Monday, March 7th at 8:10 AM at the Metro Theatre #2, and Wednesday, March 9th at 4:20 PM at the Fiesta Theatre #4.

Director Brydie O’Connor is a Kansas-bred, New York based filmmaker. Her award-winning directorial and producing work spans the documentary and narrative fields with a specific focus on women, queer, trans and non-binary stories. Most recently, Brydie was selected as a Female Filmmakers Berlin Directing Lab fellow to continue work on her forthcoming film, and she was named a Finalist for The Future of Film is Female Grant in partnership with MoMA. Brydie’s producing credits include The Lesbian Bar Project supported by Jägermeister, Taxi!, which premiered on Le Cinema Club, and Sana Que Sana, supported by Elara Pictures. Additionally, she is an LGBTQIA+ peer counselor at NYC’s volunteer-run Identity House. She is a graduate of The George Washington University.
