Curated by Erika Balsom with Silja Espolin Johnson and Clemens Ottenhausen, “No Master Territories: Feminist Worldmaking and the Moving Image” bridges the fields of documentary and experimental film and video, offering an expansive account of encounters between feminism and the moving image. Revisiting the pivotal period from the 1970s to the 1990s, “No Master Territories” examines the relationship between feminism and other intersectional struggles for justice, highlighting the ways in which artists and filmmakers explored gender and power dynamics.
