Barbara Hammer’s film, Schizy (1968), as well as her photographs Tee Corinne #7 (1972) and Tee Corinne Sleeping (1972), are on view in Sixties Surreal at the Whitney Museum of American Art!

Sixties Surreal is an ambitious survey of American art from 1958 to 1972, highlighting the work of more than 100 artists including Diane Arbus, Lee Bontecou, Franklin Williams, Nancy Grossman, David Hammons, Mel Casas, Yayoi Kusama, Romare Bearden, and Louise Bourgeois, among others. The exhibition seeks to recontextualize the decade’s central figures, examining the ways that these artists developed new strategies for connecting art to lived experiences in a time of social and political upheaval.

Sixties Surreal will be on view at the Whitney from September 24, 2025 to January 19, 2026.
