Barbara Hammer’s film, “Sanctus”, will be included in “Down Deep. Living seas, living bodies,” curated by Joseph Constable, Eulalia Domanowska and Joanna Gemes, at the State Art Gallery in Sopot, PL opening on October 30, 2025 at 6 pm!

In partnership with the Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) and the University of Gdańsk,  “Down Deep. Living seas, living bodies” explores humanity’s connection to the ocean physically, spiritually, and mentally. This exhibition examines what it means for humans to reconnect to the waters that sustain life on Earth, drawing from scientific research on oceanic intelligence, oceanic lifeforms, and the interconnectedness of nature. Through interdisciplinary and international contributions, “Down Deep. Living seas, living bodies”  urges the viewer to rethink their relationship to nature, embracing the ocean’s wisdom as a path toward a more sustainable future.
