Banco do Brasil is pleased to present Cinema Urbana – International Architectural Film Festivalin its special edition Mulheridades , between September 13th and 26th, at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) Brasília.
Since its creation in 2019, the exhibition has dedicated itself to exploring social structures and urban dynamics. In 2024, the focus will be on “womanhood”, with the screening of 50 audiovisual productions, including 40 shorts and 10 feature films, from several countries, such as Costa Rica, the USA, Belgium, France, Angola, Japan, India, Senegal, Switzerland, Chile, Cuba, Lebanon, Poland and Brazil. The program addresses themes such as female protagonism, gender and racial stigmas, and issues of belonging and affection, inspired by the political strength of the “gasolineiras de kebrada” (gasoline companies) from the fiction film Mato Seco em Chamas, a production from the Federal District.
On weekends, the event offers outdoor sessions with music and artistic interventions. The opening, on September 13, will feature video mapping and a musical set by the Eixona collective, followed by an Afro-Caribbean music party. Other dates include the screening of “Fernanda Young: Fuge-me ao controle”, recently released in theaters, the award-winning “Escasso” and “Nomadland”, as well as sessions with short films by trans, black, LGBTQIAPN+ and indigenous filmmakers. Between September 15 and 26, the CCBB movie theater will show notable films such as “Ceniza Negra” and “Pattaki”, as well as classics such as “La-Bas” by Chantal Akerman and “Sambizanga” by Sarah Maldoror.
The exhibition features a session with full accessibility, including Libras interpreters and audio description, and a special session on September 21st with descriptive subtitles and audio description, as well as live Libras.
Cinema Urbana is a production by Moveo Filmes, presented by the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and the Federal Government, with support from the Federal District’s Cultural Incentive Law and the DF’s Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.
