Still from Bent Time by Barbara Hammer

You are the season, the day, the minute

The time of the production of a work is traversed by a cloud of intuition, desires, inklings, finds, coincidences, expectation, recall and concepts. This selection of films refers to the thinking and desire that have come along with the latest production.

The sky is traversed by water drops, birds in flight or light beams. And also by a cloud of expectation, premonition, foresight and augury, which is an agency shared by the observer and the sky. “The weather reports you”, says Roni Horn. The landscape above has an abstract, malleable and elusive condition. It can be seen as a frame that takes up the meanings and worries that I project onto it.

The limits of what I can and cannot write on the skyscape are defined by the sense. I could write whatever makes sense within this frame and at the same time whatever I cast into the frame will make sense. If I match the skyscape with the film frame as surfaces of inscription, the word I inscribe inside becomes an augury, a foreshadow, the anticipation of a desire. Do things get a meaning as they occur or they occur with the single aim of meaning?

Bruno Delgado

Bruno Delgado Ramo is a filmmaker and artist-researcher with a background in architecture. His approach to this interdisciplinary work is to do research based on the experimental and material practice of cinematographic media, where the ideas of specificity, process and spatial reading are prominent, and where filming and projection are thought of as light processes in specific locations and contexts. His practice takes the form of films, screening settings, film programs, actions and publications. His work has been programmed at such festivals as Rotterdam, Punto de Vista and Vila do Conde. He has done residencies at centers such as WIELS Contemporary Centre, Museu de Belles Arts de Castelló, Matadero Madrid, Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, BilbaoArte and Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow.
