Tribute to Barbara Hammer

Barbara Hammer passed away this May, leaving us some of the riskiest and freest films in film history. Her cinema challenged rules, questioned notions of gender, and repositioned the representation of women on screen. Her films put forward images of rare beauty where bodies and nature coexist in deeply inspiring ways.

24 OUT / 19.30, CULTURGEST – PEQUENO AUD.

In 2018, Barbara Hammer received a fund to make a film. Feeling unable to finish it, she distributed it among filmmakers she admired, handing them footage she had made, but had never used, so that they could use it freely. We screen the three films from that project in dialogue with three of her films.
